Here at Creative
Dimensions in Education we have had the privilege of instructing
students from many of the finest schools, both public and
private, in northern New Jersey. Our curriculum has been
developed by master tutors over 26 years and has a proven record
of success. We teach skills that have a transformational effect
on student’s lives. We teach our students to nurture a love of
learning, practice a clear and reasonable thought process, and
to strengthen their foundational skills in language and
mathematics. As a result, our students are better prepared for
the challenges of college, the workplace, and their personal
lives.
Our staff members are
exceptional, many of them holding the highest degrees in their
respective fields. They have a broad range of experience, but all
share a love of teaching. Whether you have a child who needs to
learn to read, or you yourself are preparing for college or even graduate
school, we can help. Creative Dimensions is much more than a SAT
tutoring group, children’s education center, or a high school
prep course; we are a community of educated professionals
dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge through all phases of
life. |
|
Creative Dimensions is a company
of experienced teachers who believe that individualized tutoring
is the best educational mode of imparting valuable skills and
knowledge.
We believe that Creative
Dimensions provides a valuable educational program designed to
review basic academic skills and to supplement regular units of
instruction.
We
believe that critical thinking, reading, and writing, each an
exercise in practical logic, are absolutely essential for
high-level performance in high school, college, and beyond.
We
believe that education is an on-going process. The tests will
come and go, but the skills and knowledge acquired at Creative
Dimensions will fortify our students throughout their careers.
We
believe that successful learning cultivated through hard work,
attention to detail, and commitment produces superior results.
We
believe that self-esteem, so critical to success, depends upon
achievement. Students who master a difficult subject will have
the confidence needed to meet future academic and professional
challenges.

FACT vs. FICTION
Throughout
our 26 years of experience, parents and students have
shared rumors that they heard about the college entrance
exams.
Unfortunately, many of
them were misconceptions.
Below are just a few of
the ones we felt were most important to correct.
FICTION

|
FACT
|
|
Reasoning and thinking are the same thing. |
|
Reasoning takes much more discipline. |
|
Students are taught vocabulary in their English
classes. |
|
While some vocabulary may be taught, the type of
systematic preparation needed for standardized
tests is not. |
|
College entrance exams (e.g., SAT and ACT)
require advanced math skills |
|
Students need a solid understanding of the math
basics as well as the ability to read and reason
well. |
|
All reading material can be approached in the
same way. |
|
Critical
Reading requires
the ability to read beyond what is on the page. |
|
High school course work is irrelevant for
college entrance exams – tricks are good enough. |
|
While there are specific strategies that can be
learned for these tests, there is no substitute
for the educational foundation acquired in high
school. |
|
Background knowledge is unnecessary on college
entrance exams because testers are only allowed
to use what is on the page. |
|
Without sufficient background knowledge,
students may find passages difficult to
understand because they have no frame of
reference. |
|
High school course work will adequately prepare
the students for college entrance exams. |
|
These tests require special reasoning skills not
necessarily acquired in high school (most high
school exams do not measure reasoning ability). |
